Summary

The Shared Value Manager is a key member of the Stakeholder Communications and Engagement team within the Corporate & Legal Affairs function. The role is a senior individual contributor and leader of virtual teams. The Shared Value Manager works collaboratively across the organization to advance development, implementation and institutionalization of programs and strategies in support of the Company’s commitment to Shared Value and Purpose. The role integrates foundational principles of Corporate Social Responsibly, Sustainability, and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), and drives approaches beyond these concepts to achieve tangible value for Andeavor and its stakeholders. The position is located in San Antonio. * This position is part of a job family with multiple levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.*

Job Description

Key Responsibilites:

  • Develops strategies and project plans to ensure successful embedment, execution, continuous improvement and demonstrated results for: Shared Value – our approach to creating mutual value for the Company and our Stakeholders – Our People, Communities, Customers, the Environment, Investors, Business Partners, and Government; and Purpose – the difference we can make in the lives of our people and our stakeholders, and the reason we exist.

  • Develops and implements knowledge sharing and capacity building plans including best practices sharing forums, guidance and tools. Stands up and manages working groups and networks, and outreach to the business.

  • Identifies and makes recommendations on how Shared Value and Purpose are being considered in relevant business systems and processes to ensure they’re cultivated as a part of our Company Identity, culture and core strategies.

  • Collaboratively creates and manages relevant communications, and provides training on key messages.

  • Manages development and implementation of signature programs with key business partners.

  • Researches best practices and thought leadership, and conducts benchmarking to inform action plans and activities.

  • Develops, analyzes and manages metrics and results reporting. Rolls up input from various functions and the business. Develops reports for public and internal use and makes appropriate recommendations based on analysis.

  • Develops and delivers presentations to internal and external stakeholders. Builds relationships and manages engagements with select external experts and thought partners.

  • Creates recommendations for engagement with targeted external organizations (i.e. thought leadership, speakers’ bureaus, targeted board placement, community groups, memberships, etc.).

  • Drives awareness of Company programs and strategies with employees, and within communities and other stakeholder groups.

Requirements:

  • EDUCATION*

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, public affairs, policy, engineering, social sciences, or related field required.

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Sustainability, stakeholder engagement, CSR focused communications or public affairs, and/or Environment, Social and Governance (ESG). Experience must be in a corporate setting, top consultancy, global multilateral organization or U.S. Federal agency

  • Project and program management experience required

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Social Impact, and Sustainability (or Sustainable Development)

  • Knowledge of social or company Purpose, Community Investment, and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) a plus

  • Planning, organizing and strategic thinking capabilities

  • Advanced Stakeholder Engagement abilities

  • Project, vendor and time management skills

  • Strong data analysis and management skills

  • Ability to work across business lines, collaborate and effectively influence and build relationships with all levels of employees and leadership

  • Very organized with proven ability to create processes and programs that yield measurable results. Tracking and reporting progress is critical to this function.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in fast-paced environment with a high-degree of accountability and accuracy

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint and Excel
