Daybreak Venture Medical Records Clerk - Part-Time in Hondo, Texas

Position Summary:

The overall purpose of the medical records clerk position is to provide clerical and administrative support to the nursing services function. Incumbents may establish and maintain organized medical records and files.

A high school diploma (or equivalent) is necessary. Accurate typing skills of 40 wpm or more are needed. Prior experience as a nursing assistant/orderly or ward clerk is desirable. A working knowledge of medical terminology is required. Functional literacy in English is required. Computer literacy is desirable. Essential Functions:

All essential functions should be reviewed with the Supervisor every six month and new goals established if results are not meeting expectations.

Maintains established medical record files. Files resident information on individual charts. Establishes and maintains supply inventories. Receives and distributes nursing supplies. Maintains compliance with requirements in compliance program/plan. Monitors medical and form inventories to assure adequate supply levels. Prepares/types correspondence, reports, other documentation for nursing department May prepare and/or submit forms and documentation to and/or from physicians Completes other tasks as may be assigned by administrator, director of nursing, or corporate management. Activities are directed by the director of nursing or the administrator as may be appropriate. Functions within constraints of established policy, procedure, and practice. Communicates in a professional and courteous manner using effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills with residents, their families, and co-workers. Maintains confidentiality of department, resident, employee information, communication, and documentation as well as compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. Clocks in and out for all working/training hours. Working off the clock will not be permitted at any time or for any reason.
